능동태 문장인 people 동사 that -로 바꾸어 해석한다.

해설본 : 고대의 형이상학적 '세계관'에 따르면, 현실의 구조와 사고의 구조가 매우 밀접하게 연관되어 있어 그것들은 상호 대체가 가능하다고 여겨졌다.

 

According to the ancient metaphysical Weltanschauung, 고대의 형이상학적 세계관에 따르면

 

it was believed 사람들은 믿었다.

능동태인 People believe that -로 해석한다.

 

that - -라고

타동사 believe 뒤에 오는 that은 ‘-라고 혹은 -을/를’로 해석한다.

 

the structure of reality and (the structure) of thought 현실의 구조와 사고의 구조가

and 뒤에 생략된 the structure를 넣어서 해석한다.

 

were so closely allied 아주 밀접하게 연관되어 있다.

ally는 ‘동맹을 맺다’라는 뜻인데 dl 문장에서는 우리말에 안 어울리므로 의역해서 ‘연관되다’로 해석한다.

 

that - 그래서 -

앞 부분에 so가 있어서 that은 ‘그래서’로 해석한다.

 

they were interchangeable. 그것들은 상호 교환이(대체가) 가능한다.(서로 바꿀 수 있다는 의미)

 

they는 ‘현실의 구조와 사고의 구조’를 지칭한다.
